Funkenhausen is the manifestation of the deeply entrenched and personal history of our Chef/Partner, Mark Steuer.  It is the contemporary expression of his German heritage and Southern upbringing.  It is the inspirations drawn from those regions, cultures and cuisines.   Funkenhausen is the present-day incarnation of an old-world Bavarian Beer Hall and its vitality combined with the familiarity and technique of an Alsatian Brasserie.  It is the confluence of these age old European gathering places and the modern charm of its Midwestern roots.   Funkenhausen is a warm and welcome place to the neighbor next door and an exhilarating and enlightening experience for the World traveler. Literally translated -  its a village of spark or fire.  Funkehausen will spark excitement and intrigue. Funkenhausen will foster community and celebration.
